Thanks to those who replied to my inquiry about the existence of X-windows on the Macintosh. I have since heard (and read in Macintosh Week) that Apple plans to supply X-windows on the Mac II running AUX. Availability is supposed to be in the Fall. Also, one person's response stated that White Pine, of Amherst New Hampshire is supposedly working on an X-windows product for the Mac (Plus, SE, and II). The company is supposed to have a prototype running on the MAC II ....
