I have a VAXstationII/GPX (runnign ultrix) on loan. I'm trying to get X11R2 running on it. I have installed bug fixes #1 and #2. When I try to startup using xinit the following occurs: - The screen goes black. - The outline of the X cursor appears. - The background stipple pattern does NOT get painted - The xterm (specified on the xinit command line) does NOT come up. No, I don't have any idea what this problem is. Can you be more specific? What version of ultrix are you running? further, if you have network access to the system, go run the server remotely, by loging in to the gpx, and typing "Xqdss" from the /x11/server directory. Then after it runs for say 30 seconds, send it a quit signal (using kill) so that it dumps core. Send a copy of the stack trace and perhaps we can find out what's wrong. Basically, this server works. In fact I'm using it right now on a uvax 3 running ultrix 2.4. -matthew pappas mit X consortium
