[comp.windows.x] archiving this news group

tony@linus.UUCP (Tony E. Davis) (07/20/88)

I have been maintaining a personal archive of this newsgroup
since I began reading it. I was hoping to someday cull these articles
for information useful or interesting to me. However, the day is fast
approaching when I will be returning to school and will have to remove
my files from the system. Before that time I'd like to find some kind
soul with the time and resources to organize and maintain an archive
of these articles. They contain a great deal of useful information
which could be organized for retrieval by subject matter or simply by
article numbers. Such an archive could also serve as a reference
collection for those occasional definitive answers to questions such
as 'How do I get program Y to run on machine Z?', 'Has A been ported
to a B?', and 'How do I do K using program/library L?'.

If you have the time, resources, and interest in making these
articles available for anonymous ftp and automated email retrieval,
please contact me at one of the addresses (or by phone) below.
DO NOT send requests for individual articles, specific information, or
a copy of the newsgroup traffic; such requests will be ignored. I
don't have the time to fulfill them and I wouldn't want to subject the
net to the bandwidth involved. My hope is to find an individual who
can make them available to everyone via automatic email and anonymous
ftp.

What I have:
Articles 175-4424+ of Comp.windows.x (4 Meg compressed) as they
appeared on linus (a backbone site).
A few primitive programs to help separate and sort individual
		articles.
An automated archive mailer for responding to email requests
(untested by anyone at this site).

What I want:
A kind individual with the disk space to store these articles
for anonymous ftp and the time to beg, borrow, or create an
	automated email archive for them.
