I have seen some attempts at article cancellation lately that don't appear to conform to 2.9 B news. Specifically, they appear a few times in net.jokes as opposed to a "ctl" group. The subject line says: cancel mcnc.1543 and the text says: Control: cancel mcnc.1543 Is this a user attempting to do this or is there a new control protocol starting up? Randy King ...we13!rjk

I too have seen the things that Randy points out. My guess is that one person mistakenly did it and then other people who knew no better followed suit. That is of course not the way to cancel a message. If you want to cancel an article you submitted, just say 'c' to readnews.

I see these too, and they always came through duke. Seems there is some bug at or near Duke that puts the Control: header into the body of the message instead of the header. Apparently it's hard to track this one down, they know about it.
