I'm trying to build X11R2 on a MVAX2000 (Qvss display). It builds ok, and will run happily from xinit, But I can't get it to boot from init. I set up /dev/[tp]tyv0, and edited the ttys file as per instructions. init kicks off X and xterm, and the screen tiles OK, but thats as far as it ever goes. xterm is running, but theres no window. A friend of mine has a simular settup (I think, I've never seen it) and He says he has an xcons program, but I can find no menchion of such an animal in the distribution. (I have a /dev/xcons, for what its worth). I've tried every possible setup that I can think of, to no avail. Anybody done this recently??? -- :alex. If you can run the server and xterm from xinit, then my guess is that your line in /etc/ttys is faulty in some way. What display are you specifying for xterm? Better yet, send a copy of the appropriate line in /etc/ttys. Also, are you running Ultrix or some version of the Berkeley system? > A friend of mine has a simular settup (I think, I've never seen it) >and He says he has an xcons program, but I can find no menchion of such an >animal in the distribution. However, i would like to. joel -- The thief Left it behind-- The moon at the window. -Ryokan
