[comp.windows.x] Pixmap with 'transparent' background?

brucek@hpnmdla.HP.COM (Bruce Kleinman) (08/10/88)

How does one selectively mask a pixmap into a drawable? I want a bitmap with
a white foreground and a 'transparent' background. What I am looking for is
the X11 equivalent to XPixmapBitsPutZ under X10. This routine had a mask
argument, type Bitmap, indicating which bits to modify. From the man page ...
" The area modified will be controlled by the mask argument, if
it is non-zero. Only the bits in the mask will be modified on
       on the screen. "

The GC's clip_mask is not a good solution, as it is fixed with respect to the
window (modifying clip_[xy]_origin continuously is unacceptable). Ideas?
