The file contrib/rtl/SUMS contains checksums for each of the split files. When you retrieve them, check each one (e.g. "sum rtl.tar.Z.ag") to see if you got a clean copy. I just tried retrieving them, and out of 14, 3 were corrupted. After a total of 4 more tries, I had the right stuff. I don't know why the error rate is so high, but that was my small sample. Anyway, if any of the split files is corrupted, the resulting rtl.tar.Z file will be bogus and uncompress will fail. For your reference, here are the sums: 22587 86 rtl.tar.Z.aa 47553 113 rtl.tar.Z.ab 04020 101 rtl.tar.Z.ac 57235 74 rtl.tar.Z.ad 16994 91 rtl.tar.Z.ae 55380 88 rtl.tar.Z.af 53244 97 rtl.tar.Z.ag 58802 69 rtl.tar.Z.ah 22581 61 rtl.tar.Z.ai 09687 79 rtl.tar.Z.aj 08394 83 rtl.tar.Z.ak 11557 95 rtl.tar.Z.al 48698 100 rtl.tar.Z.am 46649 14 rtl.tar.Z.an Happy ftp'ing, --Mike {berman@siemens.com}
