[comp.windows.x] X won run on our diskless apollos

aad@stpstn.UUCP (Anthony A. Datri) (08/26/88)

X11.2 (From Apollo's ADUS) runs just fine on two of our
disked DN3000's, but won't run on either diskless machine
partnered off of one of them. Any ideas? I'm clueless.

I'm running it right now on a diskless Apollo-- try doing
a /etc/crpty 16. This is a common problem with our nodes (not
enough pty ports).

On our disked DN3000's running 9.7, I not only had to make
16 pty's, I had to move them to ptyq* and ttyq* and
make 16 of them *again* for X to run. I've done the
same on the diskless ones, and when I do a "runx tcp",
the background comes up, and nothing happes from there.
