[comp.windows.x] X10 under SunOS 4.0

mcooper@oberon.USC.EDU (Michael A. Cooper) (09/14/88)

I'm trying to run X10 under SunOS 4.0 (on Sun-3's and later on
Sun-4's). (We still have quite a few X10 users who haven't switched
to X11). I'm having two major problems:

1) None of the window managers I've tried (uwm and CMU's menuwm) will
process mouse/keyboard bindings for things such as move and resize
window. Menuwm actually takes just a mouse click and pops up menus,
but it won't do any keyboard and mouse bindings.

2) Colors are a bit messed up:
	a) A solid block cursor as used by xterm does not show up. The
outline block cursor does show up.
	b) The background wherever text has been printed has an off shade
of dark blue that does not, of course, match the background
	   color of the xterm window.

I initially had problems with other clients (such as xinit), but these
were solved by recompiling without the optimizer (-O). I also tried
using menuwm and uwm binaries compiled under SunOS 3.2, but they
exhibit the same problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

	mike
