[ Not only is this my first-ever posting, but I'm posting it for a friend. Please send replies to him (that's his .sig down there). ] I am looking for information on user interface tools to work under X windows. I will be working on a MIPS machine. Specifically, I want tools to let me program a user interface at a fairly high level, like displaying, creating dialog boxes with buttons and scroll boxes etc inside. And, pull down menus. Overall, I am looking for something that would let me get the touch and feel of a MAC without too much overhead in doing non-user interface type things [like spending an obcenely long time learning a library of calls]. I have heard of HP Xrlib, but hear that HP is "encouraging programmers of new applications to use the Xtoolkit and Xwidgets rather than Xrlib". Does anyone have experience with Xrlib, Xtoolkit, Xwidgets? Are they any where close to the utopia I describe? Does anyone have experience with X on a MIPS machine?
