I'm going to be writing an article for UNIX World on what various toolkits have to offer. I'd like to have some perspective on Andrew and Interviews from people who use them. I'm familiar only with Xt, and would like to hear the arguments for the other toolkits. If I wanted to build X applications, what are the reasons (other than wanting to port existing Andrew system applications or conventions) for choosing the Andrew toolkit rather than Xt? The more detail the better. In terms of Xt, I'd like perspectives from users of HP and Sony widgets, or DEC XUI or even Open Look, why they think users should adopt their particular flavor of interface. I'd also like comments on possible differences between the public domain releases and proprietary enhancements by each of these manufacturers. I'd also like opinions on the extent to which any of these toolkits is fully cooked, and how much you still have to roll your own to get a full-fledged application. Please reply by mail. Thanks for your help. I will try to accurately reflect what I hear, and if I have time, will send a draft of the article to all serious contributors before it goes to press.
