[comp.windows.x] hpgl interpreter for X

I'd like to debug my plotter stuff by putting output to an interpreter
which takes in hpgl and writes to an X window.

At the same time it might provide a well defined protocol for graphic
output from a program (especially non-C) running in an xterm 

Anybody ever do or think about the joys of doing such?
