*** BUG FIX FOR ALL A+ NEWS SITES *** The new headers in B 2.10 are mishandled by A+ news. The fix, which should be installed immediately, is to delete the one and only call to 'hb_canon' in header.c. That routine 'canonicalizes' header lines, something which has turned out to be a Bad Idea. Repeating: sites running A+ news should not call 'hb_canon(field);' Please fix this *immediately*, to avoid problems at B news sites. ------------------- *** A NEWS DECLARED DEAD *** Steve Daniel and I (authors of A and A+ news) have decided to recommend that those few sites still running some flavor of A news switch to B. We do not have the energy to track current and future changes in Usenet. And besides, B news is fairly good these days. Tom Truscott
