Okay, X more or less makes sense, Xt makes sense, we're rolling. Can I get
some opinions (or start a discussion) on the various toolkits? I find myself
at the moment needing a menu and I understand how to write it, but I'm sure
that someone else somewhere has written this widget. I've probably got the
source on disk. I am wary, however, of becoming locked into a widget
package, and then later having to go over my code and reorganize everything
because the package has been dumped or some standard for high-level things
(OpenLook?) emerges.
1) What do most people use? This is not just for peer group acceptance :-).
I don't want to waste time on packages other people have found after much
pain are insufficient. And which therefore may eventually go away.
2) Is there any standard anywhere for high-level window stuff that may be
adopted? I love the versatility and power of X, but it's really a pain
to _have_ to make lots of nit-picky decisions on my own. Let me go into
auto-focus mode once in a while :-).
3) Does anyone have other advice?
Again, X and Xt are neat (rad to the max). But I'd like some advice on the
higher-level packages. And if someone has comments on the non-public domain
packages, that's okay too.
