Is the effect on the sever of having many clients terminate without freeing the resources they used (ex:call XFreeFont) bad? Is it bad enough so that one should take care to free up all this stuff if he catches a signal and has no easy way of knowing what resources he has? tia. eric@eddie.mit.edu

There is no requirement that you free resources before you terminate. When the connection closes, the server will still go ahead and free them for you.
