[comp.windows.x] X11 on the RT again..........

jonnyg@ROVER.UMD.EDU (Jon Greenblatt) (11/09/88)

I recently asked if any non IBMers had fixed X11R3 on the RT.
X11R3 from the expo source did not work. I asked non IBMers because
I "assumed" an IBMer would have already posted fixes. Apparently
my question was not acurate enough because several IBMers and half IBMers
said they had it working from source when a week ago all the non IBMers
said it did not work. Sorry for the distinction between IBMers and non
IBMers but there seems to be a difference when it comes to the response I
get to this question. Here it goes again more carefuly worded (if not
carefuly spelled):

Has anybody successfuly compiled and run X11R3 on a Model 125 RT
running 4.3bsd Revision 2 using an APA16 display. If so did you have
to do any fixes, and if so could you please post them. If you are
waiting for IBM to come out with the fixes please do not reply. If your
server works and is an APA16 on a Model 125/135 RT please reply. Here are
the problems I am having:

The bliter seems broken. Xterm makes the server dump core and leaves
nothing reasonable for dbx to look at. Xlogo does not look like a xlogo.
Xman is severly erratic and puts things all over the place. I have
the model set to 135 in the Rt.macros file, it was the default, should this
be set to 125? So far the only programs that work are plaid, muncher, xcalc,
and the login window for xdm. I can't even get uwm to work right, the menus
crash.

This will be the LAST posting I make like this. I am doing this
because my resposes to my last request were so surprising and confusing.
If you are an IBMer please be specific as to where your X11R3 sources
came from and the level of 4.3 you are running.

If I get more messages now that the RT works on IBM owned RT's
I will continue this over the phone with the 3-4 IBM phone numbers I have
recieved.

					Thanx,

huh? Could you please explain this. There is no mention of model in the
Rt.macros or IBM.macros file I have.
