[comp.windows.x] R2 widgets with R3?

alan@metasoft.UUCP (Alan Epstein) (12/02/88)

although the athena widgets are up to R3, the contributed HP
widgets on the R3 tape are not. however R2 of the Intrinsics
is included.

does this mean that R2 Intrinsics can run with R3 of X? can i
then create ../libXt2.a , ../libXaw3.a , etc. and link
in the appropriate library for the varying widget set i intend
to use?

when would be a good time to expect R3 of the HP widget set?

I would like to point out is the second part of the question:
	>>.................................................... can i

No. I don't think you can link R3 athena widgets with R2 Intrinsics.
But yes, you can link R3 Xlib with R2 Intrinsics AND R2 athena widgets.

Note that the Intrinsics and widgets must be same release, or you will
have unresolved references (subroutines) at link time.
