Hi,
This is a long note, so I'll put the main questions at the top:
Has anyone gone from x10r4 as distributed by DEC on the VAXstation 2000
(or similar) under Ultrix 2.2 to X11r3? If so, did you have the problems
I'm having and how did you fix them?
I got x11r3 to compile with the 3 fixes from MIT. I compiled and
installed it separatly on a color and a mono VAXstation here.
I then tryed to test the release. I had trouble on the color machine,
so I got the sg.o device driver from MIT and successfully decoded it and
built a new kernel, which invariably hangs the screen up.
I have since noted that there is an X10 kernal software subset on this
machine. Do I need to delete this subset and then build the kernel?
On the mono machine, everything will run from the single user mode, but
I don't get the Xcursor. everything is installed in the right places,
and xfd will display the cursor font.
I think the problem on both systems may be purging myself of X10,
but I'm unsure. Any suggestion on this will be appreciated.
