I'm looking for ways to test our X applications that can be done in a (semi)automatic fashion. I have heard of a journaling capability planned for X. Does anyone have any details? Are there ways to implement a record playback easily? Lacking any playback, what is the best way to test a product in X short of hiring lots of people to continually bang out all the options? -- Tom Bernhard execu!teb@cs.utexas.edu -- Execucom Systems (512) 346-4980 -- Austin, Texas

This is in the process of pre-betasite and should be posted to the net in a couple of weeks. This was a "couple of weeks" timeframe the last time I mentioned this project, the delay has been due to the holidays. Our news feed was down as well as people being out of town on vacation (myself included). The work that I did is a good base, but there needs to be a little more effort to make the system useful. My management has taken me off this effort :-{ so I will have to release what I have done and let others pickup the ball. Such is life. Sun is doing a more polished effort, from what I have been told, to incorporate this more directly into their functionality for the merged X11/NeWS server. This is due out sometime this summer. > -- Tom Bernhard execu!teb@cs.utexas.edu -Jim Becker ...!sun!athsys!jim
