An MIT X Consortium draft standard of the Inter-Client Communication Conventions Manual (ICCCM) is now available for Public Review. The Public Review is scheduled to end April 15, and we are asking that comments be returned by March 31. A brief cover letter from David Rosenthal of Sun, who has acted as architect for the ICCCM, will be posted in a subsequent message. The following documents are available via anonymous ftp to expo.lcs.mit.edu in the directory /pub/ICCCM/ cover.ms Cover letter source (use -ms) cover.ps Cover letter in PostScript icccm.tbl.ms ICCCM source (use tbl and -ms) icccm.ps ICCCM in PostScript The documents are also available via the archive server at xstuff@expo.lcs.mit.edu. The following items are available, by sending a message with the Subject: line of "send etc <itemname>" and an empty message body: icccm.cover.ms ICCCM cover letter source (use -ms) icccm.cover.ps ICCCM cover letter in PostScript icccm.tbl.ms.1 ICCCM source (use tbl and -ms) split in 3 parts icccm.tbl.ms.2 icccm.tbl.ms.3 icccm.ps.1 ICCCM in PostScript split in 7 parts icccm.ps.2 icccm.ps.3 icccm.ps.4 icccm.ps.5 icccm.ps.6 icccm.ps.7 For example, use "send etc icccm.cover.ms" to retrieve the cover letter source. Some mailers produce mail headers that are unusable for extracting return addresses. If you use such a mailer, you won't get any response. If you happen to know an explicit path, you can include a line like path foo%bar.bitnet@mitvma.mit.edu or path bar!foo!frotz in the body of your message, and the daemon will use it.
