I'm on the wrong coast at the moment (in the middle of moving from Palo Alto to Cambridge); in any case, for those of you who might have been lucky enough to get a DECstation 3100 (aka PMAX) by now (it was announced today, Jan. 10), the R3 core distribution should compile and run without any changes except to the Imake stuff for all core clients. I will get the diffs posted next week. You will want to use our servers :-) (there are some bugs in the DDX server code for mfb and cfb which need to be fixed before MIT servers will run properly on it, not to mention some driver differences from the VAX; our servers run very much faster in any case). The client code is as up to date as schedule would allow, but those of you who track bugs might want to run MIT clients. For those of you who don't know what a DECstation 3100 is, it is the RISC workstation Digital introduced today based on the MIPS processor, first in a full line of machines. I'll let the marketeers to their job; maybe they'll be clever enough to send something to comp.newprod sometime.... or ask your local Digital salesman.
