Does anyone know of an editor that runs using X (or other Sun windowing systems) that can handle English text, Russian text, and Korean text? I believe the character sets for each of these can be represented in a single, eight-bit byte, so could it be as easy as switching fonts for the editor window? Are there any general purpose editors that can handle single and multiple byte character sets? Ideally what I would like to do is maintain many of the standard punctuation symbols like "{}->()[].? and intermingle them with Cyrillic and Korean characters on the (Sun) screen. Does an editor this flexible exist? What standards exist for the representation of other (non-ASCII) "alphabets" for computers? Any pointers (or references) would be appreciated. I can compile and post a summary of the responses I receive if there is enough interest. This is my first foray into the non-ASCII world, so I'm not sure I'm even asking the right questions. Thanks in advance for any assistance. -- Don -- ============================================================================= Don Kark | {cit-vax,trwrb,uunet}!wiley!don TRW Inc. | wiley!don@csvax.caltech.edu Redondo Beach, CA | don@wiley.uucp
