am having trouble getting X to run on my Apollo DN3000 running SR9.7. I got everything compiled and installed. When I type "xinit", I get the proper background and the X cursor, and the cursor follows the mouse, but that's all that happens. After I kill X from a different machine, I get the message "waiting for X server to begin accepting connections..." What's wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Dieter Rothmeier

all the advice has been against usint xinit in favor of using xdm. I don't use either one but rather just use a script whichstarts the server with the default fonts, timeout, etc that I want. all clients are then started from other hosts. I presume that your TCP/IP is functional (can telnet to self while logged on to the apollo). Can't offer help beyond that...
