I just grabbed the comp.sources.unix Postscript previewer (the one by Crispin Goswell). I applied the changes made by John Myers of CMU; the change specified by Steve Beaty (beaty@handle.colostate.edu) did not seem necessary, as it looked to me like there was a non-pixrect-specific change already in place to take care of his bug. Other than that, I have made no modifications to the program. When I feed a Postscript file to sunPS, sunPS exits without dumping core, but without drawing anything, either. When I use xps, I get a core dump in BitBlt, when xps dereferences a null pointer. If I compile xps on a VAX running 4.3BSD, and tell it to scribble on my Sun display, I get: X Protocol error: BadDrawable, invalid Pixmap or Window parameter Major opcode of failed request: 62 (X_CopyArea) Minor opcode of failed request: 0 Resource id in failed request: 0x4a110f00 Serial number of failed request: 90 Current serial number in output stream: 167 I get similar results when I tell xps to scribble on a QDSS. I'm using what ptroff produces when run on the 'tee' man entry as a test. The Postscript produced prints fine on LaserWriters of various flavors. I'm running 4.3BSD-tahoe (more and less) on the VAXen involved, and I'm running SunOS 3.2 (with the 3.5 SunPro compilers, and with local hacks) on my monochrome Sun-3/60. All the machines involved are using X11R3, with patches 1-7 applied. Before I try to find the time to go digging, has anyone had similar problems, and has anyone figured out how to fix them? -Steve Spoken: Steve Miller Domain: steve@mimsy.umd.edu UUCP: uunet!mimsy!steve Phone: +1-301-454-1808 USPS: UMIACS, Univ. of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742
