I think that some news is needlessly too verbose. To reissue somebody's article(s), with comments edited in will only make the article unnecessary longer and much more boring to read. People involved in the discussion will probably have seen the article yet, and may have a copy saved somewhere. Else you always can get the old article(s) with: readnews -x -n net.unix-wizards -t "too verbose" which give you all the articles about "*too verbose*". If you really need to show on which you want to pont, a short citation of the (offended) phrase will most of the time be enough. Also, when somebody sends an article which looks like: "Does any know where to get the original patent of Erard's double action? Answer me by mail, I send a follow up to the net" Please, summarize the reactions, don't just dump all the mail to the net. And if you think some mail should be printed in extenso, at least rip the headers off. jaap {philabs, decvax}!mcvax!jaap

Re: doing readnews -x -n net.unix-wizards -t "foo" On our system this takes so much time it is painful. It is much faster to egrep the net.unix-wizards directory for the desired string. This is probably due to readnews doing 4000 stat operations before finding an existing article! =S
