[comp.windows.x] Request for general Xqdss vs Xqvss advice

Hi,

 I've had trouble with several clients that run on my Mono VAXstation, but
either a) fail with an X protocol error, or b) give garbled images on my
color VAXstation.  What I would like to do is compile a list of general
advice for the non-Xprogrammer to figure out how to diagnose and remedy
problems of this sort. Any and all advice is appreciated.
