[comp.windows.x] X11R3 with both color/mono

I am using X11R3 on both color and monochrome monitors, but
when I move the mouse off the color monitor, it gets repainted
with what was on the console screen at the time I started X.
Starting the server with -dev will cause it to only use either
color or monochrome, not both. Is there a way I can get both 
monitors to display windows at the same time?
