[comp.windows.x] X11R3 on a cray running unicos 4.0?

jones@ut-emx.UUCP (William L. Jones) (03/07/89)

Has anyone out there been able to get X11R3 to run on a cray under
unicos 4.0. There is support in X11R3 for crays. I tried building
X11R3 but it does not work - at least the toolkit library does not
work. Any hints on what might be wrong.

Cray Research has ported X11R3 to the UNICOS operating system.
It has been verified with UNICOS 4.0 and UNICOS 5.0 on the XMP,
the YMP, and the Cray2. We have ported not only Xlib, but the Xt
toolkit, the Xaw widget library, Xmu library, and most of the clients,
including xman and xterm. The demos, examples and doc directories
are also installed. There is no Cray server.

However, we had to make modifications beyond the stock distribution,
especially in the Xt and Xaw libraries and xterm. Except for a couple
small bugs, the Xlib on the X11R3 tape will work on a Cray.
All the changes we had to make have been reported back to MIT,
and hopefully, they will incorporate them into X11R4.

X11R3 will be shipped as part of UNICOS 5.0. Any Cray customer
wanting X11R3 before UNICOS 5.0 should contact their local support person.
