A preliminary examination of the DEC dwt library (dating from about December) seems to show some missing features. In particular, there seems to be no facility for a disk-based source for the Text widget. This makes it difficult to write an application like `xmore' without what seems like excessive hair. There also appears to be nothing corresponding to the Athena `form' composite widget. The Dialog Box composite is not quite adequate, as the children's locations are specified in absolute coordinates. For some applications, relative coordinates as used in the Form widget are necessary (e.g., a label to the right of a text widget that grows as you type). DWT uses somewhat different intrinsics from the Athena toolkit, and so Athena widgets cannot be used by DWT programs. Do newer (or forthcoming) versions of dwt fill these lacunae in some useful way?
