[comp.windows.x] Multiple-fonts strings in CLX

I'm not quite sure about this topic, so I ask the net. 
What is the relation between the 16-bit strings and multiple-font-strings. How
do I use these 16-bit strings. Would it be possible to "patch" my LISP to use
the CL functions ala char-font,... with these.
