[comp.windows.x] color problem building X on Sun -- help!

jkrueger@daitc.daitc.mil (Jonathan Krueger) (03/18/89)

We have just built X11 R3 on our Sun-3/160 with color monitor. It's
running SunOS 3.5. After correcting a few errors in the build procedure,
we made it to the testing stage. We found that xterm, and all clients
that use color, are a uniform mud brown. Foreground, background, and
cursor are all brown. We can't seem to affect this with -fg or -bg
switches on clients. This means you can't see any text in the xterm
window. This is disconcerting, to say the least. By typing "blind"
into that window, however, we find we can fire off other clients, and
that the ones that don't use color, like xcalc, work fine!

Does this ring any bells for anyone? We're hoping that someone's
encountered this problem before. Are we missing something obvious?
Anyone know what to do?
