How does X11 deal with the global cut buffers, and how many are there? I have X10 documentation that says there are 8 of them. I know you read and write the current buffer 0 with XStoreBytes/XFetchBytes and can manually rotate the buffers with XRotateBuffers. Does X do any buffer rotating on its own, or can I be guaranteed that the buffers won't rotate unless I say so? I'm looking to write an application that merely displays the text currently in the cut buffer. I realize that this will be dependent on the terminal emulator (I'm using HP's hpterm), but I'd like to know how X11 handles the cut buffer itself. ----- Jeff Benjamin {ucbvax, hplabs}!hpfcla!benji Graphics Technology Division benji%hpfcla@hplabs.HP.COM Hewlett Packard Co.
