We've been receiving quite a few mangled articles recently, with: - the first few lines missing (locally attributed to a bug in 2.10.1) - a reasonable line count but no body - a few lines at the end missing And of course there are duplicate articles once in a while and articles referred to that don't make it here for some reason. Might it be reasonable to use net.test to, as it says, test the *entire* net? I'm not a netnews guru, but I feel that something to track down these problems would be a good idea. Perhaps a set of messages sent at regular intervals from certain sites to net.test would suffice. p. rowley, U. Toronto utcsrgv!peterr

As I found out recently, not all sites subscribe to or will forward net.test. This makes the group relatively useless for the fairly important function of doing site to site or network path tests. Given the relative anarchy of sites on the nets, I have no solution to this problem. In addition, even if a site subscribes to and forwards net.test, there is no guarantee that anyone is going to read and/or respond to messages appearing in that group.
