[comp.windows.x] Xview from Sun ?

mike@ists.ists.ca (Mike Clarkson) (04/21/89)

I've been told by two independent sources at Sun that Sun has already given
the X-windows "SunView" toolkit to MIT. Would someone at MIT care to
confirm or deny this, and if so, hazard a guess as to when it might become
available?

Many thanks in advance.

Mike.

The MIT X Consortium staff has not received any part of XView.

(Maybe that's because we deal in the "X Window System", not "X-windows" :-)

You might as well get out the lawyers and copyright X Windows as a valid
name, since this is what X is going to be called, like it or not. I guess
you lost the battle when DECwindows was introduced...
