There have been several requests for "xnews" and "xappt" posted, so here's a more or less official response. These are currently proprietary applications from Solbourne Computers, Inc. xnews (to be released as snews) is a news reading/posting/e-mail-reply tool; xappt (to be released as sappt) is an appointment book. They are part of a suite of applications undergoing beta test. The applications are based on a C++ toolkit which we intend to put in the public domain in the October timeframe. At that time we also plan to start releasing the applications. I'm not really at liberty to say what they all are, but we think (hope?) the community will be pleased. The toolkit supports object reparenting, requires an ICCCM compliant window manager, and runs under X11R3. So far testing has been limited to Sun compatible hardware (Sun3 and Sun4). We are using cfront v1.2.1, but are looking at testing with other versions of C++. -- Gary Aitken Solbourne Computer Inc. ARPA: garya@Solbourne.COM Longmont, CO UUCP: ...!{boulder,sun}!stan!garya
