I am looking for a way to capture all input (including mouse events) to a program and later replay them for the program, much as > and < allow one to do with text in Unix. I have heard a rumour that HP donated exactly such a system (consisting, I believe, of a special server) to Athena. Does anyone out there know about this? Where I can get it? If I can get it? I am new to this newsgroup, so please excuse me if this has been asked before; but I didn't see any reference to such a system in the last 73 entries... -- --mike bergman bergman@m2c.org

I have heard a rumour that HP donated exactly such a system (consisting, I believe, of a special server) to Athena. There something called the Input Synthesis Extension included in R3, which gives the toehold for record and playback of input. HP has been working on higher level tools based on this as part of the X Testing Consortium work, and they will be included in the final X Testing Consortium software release, but none of it is yet available to the public (but should be sometime this summer). but I didn't see any reference to such a system in the last 73 entries... You mean, in the last 10 minutes? :-)
