I am searching for an interface PROTOTYPING tool to run on the SUN 3 in the X environment. While I have seen various correspondances regarding toolkits which have interactive creation tools helpful for quick prototyping, I believe there is a difference between these and a true prototyping tool. The most famous example of a prototyping tool such as I seek is Dan Bricklin's DEMO II product. (Unfortunately, my understanding is that this product is geared to run on the PC.) My vision of a true prototyping tool is one that does not care what software is finally used to implement a product; its purpose is to provide an on-line sketchpad for interface ideas and to support tentative evaluations of these ideas. My ideal prototyping tool can run without "guts" (i.e. underlying application code) and yet make the test user feel as if (s)he is running the real thing. It records a test user's interactions so that the interface designer can replay the interactions at a later date. It can simulate many interface "look & feels", allowing the interface designer to choose a look & feel only as indicated by the results of prototype tests. Etc. Does anyone know of anything like this, commercial or free?? Your response will be greatly appreciated. Whitley NCR Microelectronics 2001 Danfield Court Ft. Collins, CO 80525 (303) 226-9532
