[comp.windows.x] psycho and multiple windows

pop@linus.UUCP (Paul Perry) (05/16/89)

I was looking at the code of psycho (multiple ico windows)
and I noticed that it infact has to draw to each window explicitly.
There was an optimization that drew only to those windows that needed
to be refreshed, but I would be interested in being able to
broadcast a graphical change on the net and have it reflected
in every window that was opened by the application . I understand
some of the limitations on the window side for doing this (multiple
window geometries for one), but what if these were output only
windows (with fixed geometries) ...
In short I would like to be able to have anybody on the
net open a window into an already running simulation and have a
cheap way to do graphical updates. I know I am dreaming here,
but I am interested in knowing from people how much mechanism X
provides in this area, and how much I have to solve on my own. Thanks.
