[comp.windows.x] X11R3, Sun386i & /var/adm

jip@nih-csl.UUCP (john powell) (05/18/89)

Synopsis - Sun386i's running both 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 and X11R3 patched thru 9.
On occassion, novice users, experienced users have managed to 'lock' up the
systems. After doing a power off/on re-boot the directories /var/adm and
/var/spool are no longer to be found! We see no messages from fsck and
everything else seems Ok. This has occured on four different 386i's with
four different users (all were running X when the problem occurred).

Question: Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any clues as to the
cause (X11, SunOS)?
