Is this a known bug in the sample server? In x11perfmon? ------- Forwarded Message Date: Thu, 18 May 89 12:54:16 CDT From: oren@stroke.csc.ti.com (LaMott Oren) Subject: [rws@expo.lcs.mit.edu (Bob Scheifler): Digital's x11perf is now available] To: Stenger@tilde.csc.ti.com In-Reply-To: Dan Stenger's message of Thu, 18 May 89 09:08:31 CDT <2820492511-4729662@SSB> x11perf is a fairly comprehensive set of benchmarks for X11 servers, and descends from an earlier version we used to measure and improve the pmax color server. It times both graphics and windowing performance, and will probably find something embarassing on every server it runs on. I've built x11perf on tan:/u1/oren/x11perf/x11perf. I tried running it on my Sun4, and it hangs the server while trying to "calibrate 1-pixel diameter filled circles". -LaMott ------- End of Forwarded Message

I've built x11perf on tan:/u1/oren/x11perf/x11perf. I tried running it on my Sun4, and it hangs the server while trying to "calibrate 1-pixel diameter filled circles". -LaMott Are you sure the server is hung, or merely very slow? 1-pixel filled circles creates 1000 circles at a time. And the MIT mi code doesn't seem to paint anything for 1-pixel filled circles, though it does paint a single dot for 1-pixel unfilled circles. No doubt uses huge amounts of floating point, too. Perhaps I'd better back off some of the numbers and it should create, say 100 circles. It would be nice to know what numbers are for various servers out there. - Joel McCormack (decwrl!joel, joel@decwrl.dec.com)
