[comp.windows.x] Desperate Novice Seeks Query Responses About Xlib

u-mlinds%sunset.utah.edu@wasatch.utah.edu (Mark Lindsey) (05/11/89)

As a beginning X programmer, I have found the following book to be a life
saver:

Introduction to the X Window System
Oliver Jones
Prentice-Hall

It explains the whys of Xlib and even gives some warnings about what NOT to
do and so forth. It is weak but it is better than nothing. What it really
lacks is programming examples.

Cheers!

O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. also have a pretty good Xlib programming
set. The 2 volumes include the "Xlib Programming Manual" and the "Xlib
Reference Manual." You can order them by calling 1-800-338-NUTS.
