[comp.windows.x] Garbage in xterm startup on Suns running OS 4.0.1

jody@opus.shell.com (Jody Winston) (05/19/89)

When I start "pure MIT" X11R3 on either a Sun 3 or Sun 4 running OS
4.0.1 I get junk in any xterm window that has the mouse's cursor in
it. For example:
murex:~
^^[[2^^[[2^[[2^[[2^[[2^[[2^[4~^[[2^[[2^[[2^[[2^[[2^[[2^[[2^
^[[2^^[^[[2^[4~^[[2^24~^C

This happens for all xterms and can be stopped by typing
control-c in any xterm window.

Any ideas?

Known problem with the SunOS 4.0.x (for x in 0, 1) serial port driver.
If you have a Software Support agreement with Sun, call the 800 number
and request the Answer Center send you the `General TTY' serial driver
patch tape, a.k.a. (somewhat cryptically) `YAPT 5.5a'. Or else wait
until you get SunOS 4.0.3, which incorporates said patch tape.

This phenomenon has nothing whatsoever to do with X or xterm.
