[net.news] First character of news being changed to newline..

chris@umcp-cs.UUCP (11/13/83)

or some reason (that first word is "for", just in case the bug
is in outgoing news as well), all our incoming news for the last
couple of hours has had each first character changed to a newline.
What's going on? The problem is not at CVL since two messages
from rlgvax came through undisturbed. If you have the problem,
do your netnews feeds have the same problem? Maybe we can track
this one down...

he copy of the article in question arrived at "rlgvax" from "cvl"
intact; however, the last two hours of articles we've received mostly
have their first character wiped. If anybody added Rick Adams' fix
to prepend a newline to all articles which begin with a tab (so that
sites running buggy versions of "news" which lose the first block of
such articles won't mangle the article), check that you added it
correctly and that it doesn't lose the first character of the article.
