or some reason (that first word is "for", just in case the bug is in outgoing news as well), all our incoming news for the last couple of hours has had each first character changed to a newline. What's going on? The problem is not at CVL since two messages from rlgvax came through undisturbed. If you have the problem, do your netnews feeds have the same problem? he copy of the article in question arrived at "rlgvax" from "cvl" intact; however, the last two hours of articles we've received mostly have their first character wiped. If anybody added Rick Adams' fix to prepend a newline to all articles which begin with a tab (so that sites running buggy versions of "news" which lose the first block of such articles won't mangle the article), check that you added it correctly and that it doesn't lose the first character of the article.
