[comp.windows.x] which xdbx is which?

I'd like to give xdbx a try but I'm having trouble choosing which
source to ftp. On uunet.uu.net I found xdbx.po.tar.Z in ~ftp/contrib.R3
and a split xdbx plus patches in the comp.sources.x archives. Are these
two versions the same? Does one have fewer bugs than the other?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
