[comp.windows.x] X-Protocol and other Transports

An OSI expert here has proposed that we port X to run over the ISO
Transport Service (provided by ISODE...).

Another (more purist) approach is to use the ISO Remote Operations
Service (ROS), which provides a transaction (RPC) style service, but
with message streaming if required (and integrates well with
alternative (more portable) presentation).

Has there been any discussion of alternative carriers for the X
protocol (I know about DECNET)?
