Does the consortium have any plans for upgrading the font technology? For example, to use some outline format instead of just bitmaps. We are going to be working on fonts for GhostScript (the GNU PostScript interpreter, which runs under X), and it seemed needless to invent an outline format just for that, if other plans were in the offing. (Sun's so-called ``OpenFonts'' F3 format that they bought from folio is apparently only going to be available under license, so they blew their chance at having the outline standard.)
