[comp.windows.x] X11R3 server for Macintosh

alan@APPLE.COM (Alan Mimms) (06/16/89)

For those of you that didn't manage to get invited (in other words,
everyone), Apple has just announced an X11R3 server which
simultaneously supports 8-bit PseudoColor and 1-bit StaticGray
visuals. It runs under the Macintosh operating system (i.e., not under
A/UX but under MultiFinder/Finder). It requires MacPlus ROMs or newer,
1MB of memory (2MB is STRONGLY recommended) and two floppy drives or a
(HIGHLY recommended) hard disk. It's called "MacX(tm)" (what else?) and
will ship in the fourth quarter of this year.

Unfortunately, I need to get an "official" statement from the marketing
weenies before I can say much more about it, but I'll respond to any
mail I get asking for more information.
