scott@spectra.COM (Tim Scott) (06/29/89)
Greetings oh puissant and omniscient ones in netland! Can anybody tell me anything about something called "xstones?" According to a certain vendor of X terminals (name suppressed to protect the inno- cent, as much as any vendor is innocent. But the company name might begin with J), his (sorry: "their" [I've been browing in soc.{wo}men again]) device performs at 8000 or so "xstones" (whatever those are) compared to, say, an SGI 4D doing 1800-2000. Thus: 1) (If it exists) is this something from the X group? 2) Did this vendor just write his own to make his hardware look good? 3) If it exists and anyone knows about it, is source and/or documentation available? 4) Any and all information is welcome. I hope this is of moderate interest to some people on the net, so apologies in advance if this question has already been answered. In which case I second the poster who asked whether there are archives of the traffik in the group. (I've only been following it for a week or two.) People seem to have been able to get to me with: ...!uunet!nosc!spectra!scott someone said scott@spectra.com would also work, but I certainly can't SEND anything in that format.
