[comp.windows.x] any attempt to standardize Imake.rules for releases of X source?

The increased emphasis on the use of imake in R4 has led me to wonder
whether there is a tacit assumption that all Imakefiles are based on
the same Imake.rules file?

I bring this up because the Motif release, and perhaps other third-party X
software, uses a slightly different Imake.rules file which produces somewhat
different results.

I'd like to be able to keep a single Imake.rules file on my system.

We try to keep the MIT Imake.rules compatible from release to release (from the
Imakefile writer's perspective). People who need enhancements should
send mail to me. But, the rules file does have to evolve as new types
of operations are added.
