[RAID] Does anybody know of a .DVI file previewer that runs under DECwindows? I have been looking for one for a while, and as yet I haven't heard of such a beastie. Please send me mail if you know of one. Chris Yoder Harvey Mudd College Chris@HMCVAX.Claremont.Edu

Please send me mail if you know of one. We are running both texx and xdvi here ( R3 versions ). if you are running dxwm than you have to use texx , but under other window managers you can use both of them. If you have color microvax ( mVax II GP/X _), then you will have to run xdvi, texx just gives you a blank page. I installed texx2 on our VAXstation 3200 with a GPX/something display, using 85dpi fonts. The actual compliation is no problem, but there are a couple of gotchas concerning the access(2) system call; it seems that access(2) says you can't access files on R/O NFS mounted file systems, even if you're just try to read the file. When compiling fonts, you need to use ``dxfc'' rather than ``bdftosnf,'' since DEC has their own format. Other than that, it works fairly well, given that we're running UWS 2.0, not 2.1. I will be using a PMAX this fall, so you'll probably see improved DECwindows support then. -- Dirk Grunwald -- Univ. of Illinois (grunwald@flute.cs.uiuc.edu)
